Our monthly liturgical boards have grown with us over the years.

It started first with an idea for a few months, then it became a staple in our home, where I would rotate a bible verse, hymns, an ejaculatory prayer, another common prayer, some chapters from the Baltimore catechism, and a virtue.

See September’s dedication below!

September Liturgical Board: The Seven Sorrows

September is traditionally dedicated to the Seven Sorrows of the Blessed Virgin Mary, which are as follows:

  1. The Prophecy of Simeon (Luke 2:34-35)
  2. The Flight into Egypt (Matthew 2:13)
  3. The Loss of Jesus in the Temple (Luke 2:43-45)
  4. Mary Meets Jesus on the Way to Calvary (
  5. Mary Stands at the Foot of the Cross (John 19:25)
  6. Mary Receives the Dead Body of Jesus in her Arms (Matthew 27:57-59)
  7. The Body of Jesus is Laid in the Tomb (John 19:40-42)

Just as reflecting on the Passion of Our Lord is a sure way to salvation, so is the meditation on Our Lady’s Seven Sorrows.

The Servite Rosary, or the Rosary of the Seven Sorrows, is also a simple and salutary to meditate on for the month of September (in addition to the daily rosary of course). Learn how to do so here.
